Foster Care Panel Member

Children Always First are looking for passionate individuals to join our established independent fostering panel. We are particularly keen to hear from you if:

  • You are a health care professional
  • You have a background in mental health support services

Children Always First typically hold one fostering panel per month face-to-face at their office based in Bromsgrove. As a member of the independent fostering panel, you will be part of a small group that will review the suitability of existing and potential foster carers and make appropriate recommendations as required by relevant fostering regulations. Typical duties will include:

Roles & Responsibilities

  • To read panel paperwork in advance of any panel meetings and highlight strengths and vulnerabilities for discussion in the panel meeting.
  • Attend panel meetings as and when required (appropriate notice will be given).
  • During panel, contribute to discussion of the case being presented and to offer an objective recommendation in respect of each case.
  • To declare to the Fostering Panel Chair, any personal interest or knowledge in relation to any specific case, as soon as it is identified.
  • Attend all mandatory training as and when required.
  • Maintain confidentiality of panel papers/reports and issues discussed.

To be successful in this role you should have a genuine interest in fostering and willing to act in the best interests of children and young people. You will also be a good team player with excellent communications skills and can work within agreed deadlines.
