Youth Support Team
At Children Always First we pride ourselves on consulting with our children and young people and making sure they take a full and important role in shaping our services. We like to talk to them regularly and make sure they are ok, whenever they need to talk to someone our Youth Support Team do a fantastic job of providing mentoring support.
We welcome each child and young person placed with the agency. We have a great age appropriate Welcome Pack that tells our children who we are and what we do. We also hold various social activities throughout the year so they can make friends.
We run regular children’s activities throughout the year for all ages that are both great fun and educational. Our primary goal as an agency is to help create lots of fun and happy memories!!
The young people themselves have a huge say in what activities they would like to see on offer and we allocate a substantive budget to make sure that these things can and do happen. As well as listening to our children and young people we always welcome any suggestions from our foster carers.
Activities arranged for our children and young people have included overnight camping, a trip to Parliament, overseas trip to Brussels, Paintballing, Drive it, Go Karting and a girl’s group to name a few. We want the young people to feel free and in control and make some extraordinary events a reality in their lives. We use our ‘Have Your Say’ group to ask them the issues they feel affect them, we are a transparent agency so we want everyone to have a say. We also ensure that any young people who want to get actively involved can access other organisations and events like Ofsted consultation days.
We make sure each Youth Support Worker builds a positive relationship with the child or young person.
We want our children and young people to feel like one big family so every year our Youth Support Team organise a summer event called the BIG DAY OUT, this event involves all of our foster carers and staff and we basically just have a great day filled with lots of different activities, food and great company. We also hold an annual Christmas Party which is always a huge success. There is no expense spared in the organisation of these events. Each child receives a Christmas present (including birth children), which has been personally chosen for them. We like to go that extra mile to make sure everyone knows they are special and part of our CAF Family.
We think having our dedicated Youth Support Team really sets us apart from other agencies. Children and young people have regular contact with our team whenever they need it and we have seen first hand how beneficial this can be in children’s development and progress.
