Children Always First are a well-respected Independent Fostering Agency dedicated to delivering a high-quality service for children, young people and Foster Carers. We have a strong and supportive infrastructure and vibrant team in based in Bromsgrove, covering the West Midlands area.

Our small, family-feel agency operates a therapeutic fostering model based on Dyadic Development Practice (DDP) and Social Pedagogy. Children Always First is the first organisation in the UK to be DDP certified by the Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy Institute and prides itself on being an ethical Fostering Agency which truly puts the needs of children first.

Children Always First encourage social distancing in and outside the office and provide PPE for all staff. The majority of our workforce is currently working from home or in the office on a rota as to keep numbers low. As this role is responsible for safeguarding vulnerable children, risk-assessed, face-to-face visits to foster carers and children remains an essential part of this role.

Overview of Responsibilities

  • To play a key role in supporting the Registered Manager in service delivery and development
  • Manage a Team of Social Workers and Senior Practitioners
  • Ensure that legislative, regulatory, National minimum Standards and Company requirements are met
  • To work closely with colleague and fulfil specific responsibilities in relation to Foster Carer recruitment, assessment, support, supervision, referrals and placements
  • To take part in the on-call rota

We are looking to attract people who can envisage a long-term career with us delivering excellence to our carers, children and young people.

The ideal candidate would be nurturing, child-focused and will meet the following criteria;

  • A Social Work England (SWE) recognised Social Worker Qualification and be registered with the SWE
  • A genuine passion to create positive outcomes for children and young people
  • Experience of working in children’s services and recent fostering experience in a supervisory capacity
  • A good working knowledge of the fostering standards and regulatory framework
  • A strong understanding of children’s safe guarding.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • A good level computer literacy and an eye for detail
  • Access to own vehicle with a full UK Driving Licence

The successful applicant will be trained by us in DDP Level 2 and will work range of colleagues including our own fantastic therapist and the renowned Dr Kim Golding who helps ensure that DDP remains an essential part of our delivery.

Quality Assurance manager / Agency Decision Maker

Overview of Responsibilities

  • To contribute to the development of a high-quality fostering service.
  • To take a lead role in the development and review of the agency’s policies and procedures.
  • To share responsibility with the Registered Manager for monitoring that the agency’s policies and procedures are properly implemented in practice and that the agency’ systems and practice comply with UK legislation and the UK National Minimum Standards.
  • To take a lead role in developing and monitoring the agency’s social work and foster care policies, including Health and Safety in relation to foster carers’ homes and organised activities.
  • To liaise across all departments, and design and implement systems for recording and monitoring performance in all areas.
  • To measure the agency’s performance against its key objectives as well as government/local authority performance frameworks.
  • To undertake the role of agency decision maker, making objective, robust decision on behalf of the agency.
  • To work closely with the Directors and Registered Manager to contribute to planning and development of the service.
  • To manage foster carers’ annual reviews, including the supervision of independent reviewing officers.

The ideal candidate would be nurturing, child-focused and will meet the following criteria;

  • A social worker with at least 3 years post-qualifying experience in childcare social work and has a knowledge of childcare law and practice.
  • A genuine passion to create positive outcomes for children and young people
  • A Social Work England (SWE) recognised Social Work Qualification (DipSW, CQSW, CSS)
  • Experience of working in children’s services and recent fostering experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Knowledge of legislation, regulations, guidance and standards that relate to the provision of fostering services for children in England.
  • A strong understanding of children’s safeguarding.
  • Ability to communicate effectively on a range of levels
  • A good level computer literacy and an eye for detail
  • Access to own vehicle with a full UK Driving Licence

Independent Reviewing Officer

Overview of Responsibilities

  • Chair foster carer reviews at least once annually as required by the fostering regulations, following an agenda agreed by Children Always First Ltd.
  • To rigorously assess foster carers’ capability to meet the needs of children in foster care, incorporating their wishes and feelings as well as feedback from other professionals.
  • To prepare high quality review reports with clear recommendations to the agency regarding the carer(s) and household’s suitability to foster, evidencing the reasoning behind the recommendations made.
  • Develop positive relationships within the team, to promote and implement the process.
  • Provide analytical reports to the agency identifying examples of excellent or poor practice, themes and trends, feedback on children’s views and suggestions for development, change to practice, the service or policies and procedures.
